Warrington Market is gearing up for another show stopping event to host The Young Traders Market North West regional final.
Following the success of Warrington’s first ever Young Traders Market last month, finalists from local heats from across the North West will arrive in Warrington to battle it out for a place in the National Market Traders Federation (NMFT), Young Traders Market final.
The event will take place on Saturday 3 August, from 10am, outside Warrington Market, and will include Warrington’s current Young Market Trader of the Year, Modern Day Monks.
As well as a selection of stalls located outside the market, there will also be a live music stage hosted by Warrington Music and will include a line-up of musical talent all aged 16-30.
Council Leader, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “The Young Traders Market is great initiative and we’re proud to have been asked by the NMTF to host the regional final for the North West this year. After a hugely successful local heat, we are looking forward to welcoming over 30 finalists from across the region to Warrington on Saturday.”
Warrington Market’s own Rob Leicester, from Warrington Fruit & Veg, is the reigning Young Market Trader of the Year champion, after winning last year’s competition and will hand over his title at the Young Market Trader Final in Stratford-upon-Avon at the end of August.
The Young Traders Market is a national initiative run by NMTF, which aims to nurture young talent and advocate market trading by encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to trade on the nations traditional markets.
Joe Harrison, Chief Executive of the NMTF, said: “We developed the Young Traders Market to encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs to consider markets as an option and to help bring a fresh injection to our high streets, towns and cities and has gone from strength to strength over the years. I am really pleased that Warrington Borough Council see the value of markets and are investing in a new market hall to help provide opportunities for the next generation and we look forward to returning to Warrington for the North West Regional Final.”
