The local Trussell Trust Foodbank launched a new service to support Warrington residents on Wednesday 10 July.
This week, Warrington Foodbank opened an additional distribution centre at Fearnhead Community Centre on Insall Road. The service will be open within the centre on Wednesdays from 12noon to 2pm.
Warrington Foodbank currently operates from its main distribution centre in Warrington town centre and, following the opening of the new site, will have four satellite centres across the borough.

- Mondays, 4.30pm – 6pm
- Tuesdays, 12noon – 2pm
- Wednesdays, 10.30am – 12.30pm
- Thursdays, 12noon – 2pm
- Fridays, 12noon – 2pm
- Emmaus Church, Capesthorne Road, Orford – Mondays, 12noon – 2pm
- Quench Café, Lodge Drive, Culcheth – Thursdays, 11am – 1pm
- Hood Manor Methodist Church, Raikes Close, Great Sankey – Fridays, 1pm – 3pm
- Fearnhead Community Centre, Insall Road, Fearnhead – Wednesdays 12noon – 2pm
Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, cabinet member for housing, public health and wellbeing, said: “We know that anyone can find themselves at crisis point for a number of different reasons.
“The foodbank acts as a lifeline to help Warrington residents who need temporary relief or assistance to help feed their families. The foodbank’s work is integral to the community and helps people to get back on their feet with the right support.”
Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “The addition of a new centre, operating from Fearnhead Community Centre, is great news for local people who find themselves struggling to feed their family. It also shows how positive outcomes can be achieved when organisations and partner agencies work together to support people at their time of need.
“This new partnership means that Warrington Foodbank can cast a wider net to help even more people.”
David McDonald, Project Manager for Warrington Foodbank, said: “Warrington foodbank is delighted to be partnering with Fearnhead Cross Community Centre.
“During 2018/19 we fed 276 families in the Padgate and Fearnhead area, and feel that it was a natural progression to open a distribution centre within the community.”
Everyone who attends the foodbank for emergency food needs to have a valid foodbank voucher. To access the foodbank you must be referred by a local agency, such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, health visitors or children’s centres.
