Together Energy has appointed Kevin Greenhorn as Chief Operating Officer and formally appointed a further Director to its Board.

With over 25 years’ experience in the energy sector, Kevin has held a number of senior positions.  Latterly he was Managing Director of SSE Energy Solutions and previously CEO of Airtricity Supply which grew to become the second largest energy supplier in Ireland.

A keen sportsman, Kevin was also an Ambassador for the former Tomorrow’s People charity which sought to help young unemployed people find work, and was attracted by Together Energy’s strong social agenda and commitment to learning opportunities for staff.

Kevin said, “Together Energy is a dynamic, ambitious business built on sound moral and ethical principles which I admire greatly and find refreshing.  There’s a terrific management  team in place who are committed and driven to continue to break new boundaries and it’s an exciting time to be joining the company.”

Kevin joins Professor Steven Broomhead on the Board of Directors.  Steven is Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council, which recently took a 50% share-holding in the business, representing an £18m investment.

Commenting on the appointments Paul Richards, Chief Executive, said, “Kevin’s extensive knowledge and skill set is just what we need to strengthen the Board, help drive the business forward, and explore new opportunities.  His local council and housing association experience will also be very beneficial to the business.”

Together Energy offers low priced dual energy tariffs, up to a three year fixed term and was founded by Paul Richards, a former British Gas executive, in 2016.  Since then the company has grown to record an £85m turnover, employing 140 people, with in excess of 150,000 customer accounts.

The company has been built around a set of core convictions including a vision of how employers and employees should interact, developing a workplace grounded in the values of dignity and worth.

Its recruitment policies support people often overlooked by society, in particular young people, many of whom have felt let down by the education system.   Most staff are from the bottom 10% of postcodes according to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation.   Together Energy invests significantly in training and learning, customising individual development plans, including alternative paths to fulfilment, as well as the opportunity for formal education through its unique partnership with Strathclyde University.
