Hundreds of people have already had their say on building a thriving future for Central Warrington – and there’s still time for you to get involved.
The online questionnaire about the Warrington Central 6 Regeneration Masterplan is open until Friday 14 December. It gives local people the opportunity to help shape development, investment and projects in the central wards of the borough for the next 25-30 years.
Launched last month, the consultation over the plans has included more than 20 dedicated sessions held right across the central area, including drop-ins, focus groups and sessions with schools and other community organisations
More than 600 people have contributed to the conversations so far, with the team leading the work receiving over 500 feedback postcards and online responses.
Full analysis has not yet been completed, however a range of local priorities are already starting to emerge, including better, cleaner and safer environments; better parks and open spaces; improved employment opportunities; quality and variety of housing; and traffic and public transport improvements.
Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins, said: “Our consultation over the Central 6 Masterplan has been a real success so far. We’ve received a wealth of valuable feedback from residents and lots of good ideas have been put forward.
“We need the help of local people to make sure we get these plans right, so it’s been fantastic to see so many people coming forward with such positivity about the potential to change and improve their neighbourhoods, through things like community gardens, activities that keep areas well-used, bike paths, better pavements, improved air quality and much more.
“If you haven’t yet had your say in this round of consultation, there’s still time. Complete the online survey, share your views and make sure your own priorities and ideas are included.”
The online questionnaire asks people to consider priorities such as housing, jobs, the environment, leisure and culture and also encourages people to share any big ideas for their local area. In addition, a Facebook page has been set up, fb.me/central6masterplan, which people can link to.
The areas mainly covered by the masterplan are the wards of: Bewsey and Whitecross, Fairfield and Howley, Orford, Latchford East, Latchford West and Poplars and Hulme.

• The first round of consultation over the Warrington Central 6 Regeneration Masterplan is the start of a programme of activity which, over the next six months, will give local people a range of opportunities to get involved in the plans.
• There will be further news and more events in the new year as the project team continues to analyse the feedback and follow this up with a second round of engagement starting in February, testing out some practical proposals with the community based on the feedback given.
• The council’s central neighbourhoods team and partner organisations are still working with community groups, as well as attending community events, to encourage people to complete feedback postcards. There are also postcards in the Gateway, The Job Centre, Orford Jubilee Hub, Central Library and the Council’s Contact Centre.
• Once all of the information is collated and analysed, a first draft of the Masterplan will be drawn up, outlining possible proposals and solutions, for further discussion with the community in the Spring.
