Westy Community Centre benefits from new CCTV and lighting thanks to community fund.
The centre and surrounding park in Latchford East has been made safer after new outside security lighting and an updated CCTV system are installed.
The project received funding support from both Warrington Borough Council’s community initiative fund and the Latch Ford Big Local community fund.
Members of the community will now feel safer when enjoying activities at the centre and the park thanks to the improved security measures.
Cllr Tony Higgins, executive board member for leisure and community, said: “Westy Community Centre is a real asset to the area and is home to many community groups. I’m really pleased that the community initiative fund has enabled much needed CCTV and lighting improvements that have given the centre the security it needed.
“These improvements would not have been possible without the fund or the grant given by Latch Ford Big Local. It’s an excellent example of how working together with partners gets positive results for our communities.”
The Council’s community initiative fund supports organisations belonging to the voluntary, community and faith sectors. Groups can apply for grants between £50 and £3,000 to help to support or deliver activities across the borough that support the Council’s pledges to:
- Protect the most vulnerable
- Support the local economy
- Help build strong and active communities for all
- Create a place to be proud of
